Connect with Markus Mortenson

Markus is a graduate student from Dallas, Texas pursuing his a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Advanced Manufacturing and Digital Twin Technology and a specialization in Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship.

Outside of class, Markus represents Lyle within SMU’s Student Senate, is the President Emeritus of the SMU Water Ski team, and is the Student Representative to the Board of Trustees for Development and External Affairs. Throughout his time on the Hilltop, Markus has served as the Vice President of the Hilltop Motorsports race team, served as Secretary and Housing Manager for BYX, and completed multiple SMU leadership programs including Emerging Leaders, Cultivate, and FSLead.

Outside of campus, Markus serves on his K-12 school’s alumni board, and serves on the Texas board of the Future Problem Solvers Program.
